Pakistan's textile & apparel exports up 3.68% in July-September 2022

In the first three months of fiscal year 2022-23 (July-June), the value of Pakistan's textile and apparel exports increased by 3.68% in July-September 2022. According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan's textile and apparel export revenue during the period was $4.583 billion, compared to $4.420 billion in July-September 2021.

During the period under review, knitwear exports including sportswear and fleece increased by 15.40% year-on-year to US$1,320.897 million, while non-knitted garment exports increased by 5.85% to US$911.514 million.

 

In terms of textiles, from July to September 2022, cotton yarn and polyester exports fell by 18.14% to $236.263 million, while cotton fabric exports increased by 4.21% to $580.524 million. During the period, pajamas exports fell 2.93 percent to $779.703 million, the data showed.

 

Imports of synthetic fibers fell 38.84% year-on-year to $149.456 million, while imports of synthetic and rayon yarns fell 30.90% to $156.454 million over the same period.

 

At the same time, Pakistan's textile machinery including circular knitting machines, fleece and rib interlock imports from July to September 2022 were US$146.077 million, a sharp drop of 36.73% year-on-year.

 

In the 2021-22 fiscal year ended June 30, Pakistan's textile and apparel exports rose 25.53 percent to $19.329 billion, up from $15.399 billion in the previous fiscal. In the 2019-20 fiscal year, exports were worth $12.526 billion.
